WhoDats, you should know the answer without my even having to ask the question, but there may be a wrinkle or two you haven't thought of yet. Yes, the State of Louisiana has many fine websites that do a great job of reporting Saints and LSU news, and I do my best to follow all of them I can. Whatever I miss they don't miss, and I report it and give them credit for their hard work.
These guys report Saints news from every nook and cranny of the greatest State in the Union, and represent voices of the common people as well as they are able to, or as well as their writers are allowed to.
The end of that last sentence is the heart of the matter; reporters are not always allowed to say what they think, or even what they believe to be true. There is a lot of politics that goes on behind the scenes in journalism, and newspaper or website ownership. Often you might find yourself wondering why a certain writer didn't speak up more forcefully on an important issue that affects the Saints team and the Saints fans.
WhoDats, often the answer is that he or she is not allowed to say what they believe, plain and simple. Why do you think I went to all the trouble to build this website, pay for everything myself, and spend 7 days a week here representing the Saints team I love?
It's because here, inside this site no one can tell me what to say, what to think, what to talk about, or what to publish. I have complete freedom here, I have what freedom of the press is supposed to be
, but falls short of being.
Even the finest Saints reporting news site on the Internet Nola.com is owned by The Times-Picayune Newspaper, and politics may come into play in what they can say at certain times. Consider that the NFL rewards certain news sites with "pork chops", they'll throw them an exclusive story to "break" of "leak" first as the case may be, but not if that site has been critical of NFL management.
The NFL will never throw this site a "bone", the most I can hope for is them to shoot me the bird, LOL...
I answer only to my heart, my conscience and my God. I don't answer to Roger Goodell, or the owners of a any newspaper.
People, I do my best not only to speak up about things other news agencies won't touch with a 10 foot pole, but to report things in a way that other reporters just didn't see within the narrowly regimented corporate focus that they've grown accustomed to.
Please support your team by supporting this website. I work my azz off trying to make it a place that represents the best of what the WhoDat Nation has to offer.
