There’s not a lot of places I want to go with this right now, except that I had to help get the news out to the WhoDat Nation. Still, is this a help or a hindrance for our next season? My crystal ball just blew a fuse, so I may have to do some thinking, lol… Hmmm… Lemme see, dat’s most of our offensive coaching staff.
UPDATE: It occurred to me that Goodell had approved both these contracts before they were signed, and knew in advance when they would expire. Is that part of his reasoning behind delaying Sean Payton from returning to the Saints? There won’t be any coaching “free agents” left when he returns, at least not any good ones.
Damn, just remembered. Thinking usually gives me a headache, ha ha. Something tells me that with Saints head coach Sean Payton back the New Orleans Saints can handle anything the NFL throws at them, including more of Roger Goodell’s bull shit. Having said that, it’s an interesting turn of events.
Aaron Kromer may not be the best interim head coach in the corral but as WhoDatWarriors pointed out he’s good with an offensive line, and knows both the Saints running backs and the run system that Payton uses. Having said that, expect some things in the offense to change when Sean returns.
There’s nothing on the radar to suggest that Kromer’s in any trouble, and of the two free agent coaches Aaron is the most likely to get both a deal and a raise, although Sean likes the way Pete doesn’t complain about Sean running the offense more than he does. Pete, it’s hard to say what’s up his sleeve. Pete came out of the barn at a gallop when his contract expired, although if he doesn’t get an offer he’ll likely want to stay with the Saints.
We may never know how this affects the Saints, or even if it does. I doubt seriously if anything will be done about the situation until Sean gets back, and has time to sit down with the Saints ownership, the Saints management, the coaching staff, and even Drew Brees.
The captain of the Saints Oline will have a say in the matter because Sean trusts his input. It may turn out that Sean will want to let one of the men go, and having them as coaching free agents will remove the burden and stigma involved with firing them. Having said that, it’s not the offense that’s in trouble, lol…
Like I said, we may never know.
