Look, admittedly a lot of what passes for sports news is little more than speculation, and a lot of it is not about things that make us want to sit up, smile and say “WhoDat”! Why not shift gears and talk about a pleasant subject or two today?
For all practical purposes we’re positive that Brees will stay with stay with Sean and the Saints, but remember that their Saints contracts overlap. Drew’s contract will run out exactly one year before Sean Payton’s does, four years from now. What happens when that day comes?
Let’s start out by gleefully remembering all the “Gloom and Doom” azzholes out there in the sports media. Why “gleefully”? Because the dumazzes all turned out to be wrong. They wrote about not only Sean Payton’s perceived “lack of loyalty” to the Saints, but also Drew’s lack of loyalty and how greed overwhelmed his “sense of family”. They wrote anything they could come up with to throw fear into both the Saints players and the Saints fans.
Who were they? Hell, you already know, and some wrote that crap from inside the City of New Orleans. They were all wrong, every last single one of their “nay-saying” azzes. They underestimated both Drew Brees and Sean Payton. They underestimated their character, their loyalty to The Saints & New Orleans as well as being dead wrong about what drives those two guys as men.
We don’t have any knowledge about the circumstances in the year 2017, but we know our hearts, Drew’s and Sean Payton’s hearts. We don’t know what our money or cap situation will be, or if Karma has caught up to Roger Goodell and we have a new man, a fair man as the NFL Commissioner. We don’t even know if Drew will be healthy enough to play in 2017. If he is able to play Sean will no doubt bust his azz to get Drew signed again.
What else do we know? We know the only way you’ll ever get Drew Brees and Sean Payton off the field in the Saints Superdome is on a stretcher. Hell, even then Sean comes limping back on crutches! WhoDat!
