New Orleans Pelicans Fall Short In Loss To Denver Nuggets

Early in the 4th quarter the Pelicans tried to rally, and almost did. They pulled the score to within a point after going 17-3 in a valiant effort, but the Nuggets held on for the eventual win. Denver rallied next with a 12-2 run and the Nuggets lead was once again into double digits.

Quincy Miller and Jordan Hamilton came out strong for the Nuggets, who never did look like the No. 22 seed team at the NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas. The 11th-seeded New Orleans Pelicans never gave up however, and made the Nuggets earn the win as the game ended 87-82 in favor of Denver.

The Pelicans next game will be the losers bracket game on Friday against the Washington Wizards. Pelicans second-year forward Darius Miller led the team with 23 points but his comment echoed the 31-17 run that had the Pelicans going backwards:

“I was shooting flat in the first half, and we kind of dug ourselves a hole…”

In the first quarter Hamilton banged out 18 of his 23 points, and Quincy Miller stuffed in 12 more in the third to make the difference. As the first ever Pelicans playoff game ended with the final buzzer it was the Denver Nuggets who had earned the right to advance to the Round of 16.
